H8 / H/Z89 Software

CP/M 1.43 Non ORG-0 CP/M 1.4

Lifeboat Associates developed a version of CP/M that would run on the Heath H8 and H-89 systems. CP/M normally loads programs at 100H, but Heath had not yet created the ORG-0 hardware modification (which allowed RAM to be remapped in the lower 8K, instead of ROM) for their computers. Lifeboat Associates's version would load programs at 4200H, similar to the memory map of HDOS. This prevented standard CP/M programs from running without being at least recompiled and may have required code changes to work with this non-standard memory map.

Shortly after this was released, Heath released their own version of CP/M and a hardware modification to allow the computer to remap RAM to the first 8K after boot. This allowed CP/M programs be loaded at 100H. Heath's version was based on 2.2 instead of 1.4 which provided additional benefits.
